About

I started this blog almost three years ago because I was applying for an internship at a public radio show at WGBH, the public radio station in Boston. The show had this really interactive website powered by WordPress and to get the internship, I had to prove that I could make a blog. So I made a blog called “nika has a blog,” got the internship, and the show was immediately canceled because it lost its funding when the biggest private donor reneged on whatever deal they had. I ended up interning at a little art magazine in South Boston, which ended up being not only one of the most fun jobs I’ve ever had but also the first time I thought about maybe going into arts journalism.

So now it’s 2010 and I’m in New York after graduating college and living in Berlin for a while. And I’m interning at another little art magazine which gives me a lot of free time, which lead me to start working on this blog. Mostly to learn how a blog works, as well as because I finally caved to everyone and their dog who tells me I should start a blog when I tell them I’m interested in journalism (which is really annoying! Please, if you’re that person, feel free to refrain from dishing out career advice and telling me print is dead because I KNOW THAT ALREADY).

Here’s a poem I like. (It’s sort of explained here, and translated here.)

-Else.
